Another cross-country season is in the books!

For the past few months, we've spent our weekends watching runners give everything they've got on cross-country courses across theCC OVER Ozarks. We've seen personal records, exciting finishes, teammates cheering each other on, and plenty of runners crossing the finish line completely exhausted but with a smile on their face.

One of the things we enjoy most about timing cross-country meets is watching the athletes improve throughout the season. We see many of the same faces week after week, and it's pretty neat to watch a runner who struggled early in the season come back a few weeks later and knock a minute or two off their time.

To all the runners, coaches, and parents we've seen this season, thank you for another great year! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

So, What's Next?

For some runners, it's time to trade in the running shoes for basketball shoes or get ready for another winter sport. Others will take a little time off before starting to prepare for track season.

But for those who aren't quite ready to stop running, there are still plenty of opportunities to get out and race!

One thing we always encourage cross-country runners to do is try a local 5K. It's a completely different atmosphere from a school meet. You're not just racing against other students your age. You might find yourself running alongside your parents, former teammates, teachers, or someone who's been running longer than you've been alive!

And who knows? You might even bring home an age group award.

Keep Running, But Have Some Fun With It!

After months of practices, workouts, and racing every week, there's nothing wrong with taking a break from the pressure of competing.

You don't have to run a personal record every time you race. Sometimes it's just fun to show up, run with friends, enjoy the atmosphere, and grab a snack at the finish line.

We've got several great races coming up over the next few months that would be perfect for cross-country runners looking to stay active.

These races are also a great opportunity for parents to get involved. You've spent the last few months standing along the course cheering for your kids. Maybe it's time to lace up your own running shoes and join them!

We'll See You at the Next Finish Line!

Whether you're taking a well-deserved break, getting ready for basketball season, or already thinking about track, we hope you'll keep running in some way.

And to our graduating seniors, we hope this isn't the last time we see you cross one of our finish lines. Just because your high school cross-country career is over doesn't mean your running days have to be.

We've watched a lot of runners grow up over the years, and there's something pretty special about seeing a former high school athlete show up at a local road race years later. Sometimes they're even bringing their own kids along!

Congratulations to everyone on another great cross-country season. Enjoy a little downtime, and when you're ready to race again, we'll be there waiting at the finish line.

See you at the races!
