MARSHFIELD, MO — Cross country athletes from across southwest Missouri gathered at Patriot Park on Thursday, August 27, 2026, for the Marshfield Invitational, producing impressive performances in varsity and junior varsity competition.

The early-season meet featured runners from Lebanon, Strafford, Fordland, Mountain Grove, Logan-Rogersville, Plato, Marshfield, Norwood and Parkview, with athletes competing for individual honors while teams battled for valuable points in the team standings.

Henry Leads Boys Varsity Field

Lebanon's Parker Henry captured the Boys Varsity individual championship, pulling away from the field to finish in 17:05.65.

Henry was followed by Henry Reyes of Parkview, who finished second in 17:13.00. William Cullins of Plato placed third with a time of 17:27.85, while Mountain Grove's Max Cullins finished fourth in 18:12.56.

Lebanon's Jamen Prescott rounded out the top five, crossing the finish line in 18:21.11.

The Boys Varsity race featured a competitive battle for team honors. Strafford captured the team championship with 53 points, followed by Lebanon with 69 points. Mountain Grove finished third with 80 points.

Strafford's depth proved to be the difference, placing multiple runners among the top finishers to secure the team victory.

Hough Takes Girls Varsity Title

On the girls side, Elizabeth Hough of Strafford claimed the individual championship with an impressive time of 21:11.10.

Lebanon's Racann Shelton finished second in 21:18.45, followed by Ada Brown of Fordland in third with a time of 21:47.41.

Lebanon continued to place runners near the front of the field as Braylee Breedlove finished fourth in 21:48.69, while teammate Barbara Grand took fifth in 22:06.75.

The depth of the Lebanon girls proved difficult to beat in the team standings. Lebanon won the Girls Varsity team championship with just 26 points, placing four runners inside the top 10 and five among the top 17 finishers.

Junior Varsity Competition Adds to the Day

The junior varsity races also provided athletes an opportunity to compete and gain valuable race experience early in the season.

In the Junior Varsity Boys race, Jackson Kasten of Logan-Rogersville earned the victory with a time of 20:10.24. Strafford's Kaden Bunch finished second in 20:57.28, followed by teammate Layne Johnson in 21:27.95.

The Junior Varsity Girls race was led by Layla Harris of Lebanon, who crossed the finish line in 22:55.28. Lebanon swept the top five positions in the race, demonstrating the program's impressive depth.

A Strong Start to the Season

The Marshfield Invitational gave teams an important opportunity to measure their early-season progress against strong competition. With the Missouri cross country season just getting underway, the performances at Patriot Park provided an exciting look at athletes and teams that will continue to develop throughout the fall.
