Mt. Vernon, MO - Saturday, November 16, 2013, Mt. Vernon Veterans Home hosted the Annual Remembering Our Heroes 5K & 1 Mile March.
The Veterans Home is operated by the Missouri Veterans Commission to provide quality rehabilitative nursing care to Missouri Veterans. The Mt. Vernon Home is one of seven veteran homes in Missouri. Other locations include St James, Mexico, Cape Girardeau, St. Louis, Cameron and Warrensburg. These homes are inspected annually by the Veterans Commission and The Veterans Administration, and comply with all federal and state regulations.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Missouri's Veterans Home is:
- To provide the highest level of quality skilled nursing care to Missouri's Veterans.
- To rehabilitate to the maximum attainable level of independent functioning by utilizing all necessary services, therapies, and to provide a comfortable, safe, sanitary environment conducive to personal well-being.
- To make available social and cultural activities of personal interest designed to foster feelings of dignity and self-respect.
