Branson, MO - The First Annual ADA STOP Diabetes 5K was held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Skaggs Ortho/Neuro Medical Building, benefiting the American Diabetes Association. The course took runners through Skaggs Trail, Roark Trail and Stockstill Park. The weather held out, no rain or high winds, but runners could definitely feel the humidity.
For runners Tonya Hamilton of Fair Grove and Hannah Bartley of Springfield, this was their first 5K event. Tonya said "she loved it and really enjoyed the course". Tonya, already has plans to sign up for two upcoming 5K's (MayDay 5K & Remembering Our Heros 5K)!! Hannah Bartley came out with a bang, placing 1st in her age division!
Thank you to all of the volunteers & participants for coming out and supporting the American Diabetes Association. The next ADA 5K Walk/Run is Friday, July 13, 2012, 7pm at the Nixa Community Center. ALL proceeds for this event will go towards Camp Earthworks, a local ADA sponsored camp for Type 1 diabetic kids.
